Scholarships Aren't Just for "A” Students Anymore

Traditionally, scholarships encompass terms such as "merit" and "need", but there are more factors included. Students are often unaware of the many non-academic scholarships available and presume their chances at winning scholarships are low if they didn’t receive good grades in high school. Though academics are a crucial area for consideration, it does not mean they have zero chance to find money for college without such qualifications. Though their chances are increased if they do happen to belong to three or four clubs, these are not the only criteria.

Merit Based Scholarship

A) Academic Excellence Scholarship

Student excelling academically are easily recognized by looking at their score card and there are various avenues for them to get the scholarship. There is no need for discussing the selection criteria here.

B) Non-Academic Scholarships (Skill Based/Scientific Creativity Based Scholarship)

Talent: The new brain

Can you draw? Dance? Sing? There are quite a few non-academic scholarships available to creatively-inclined individuals. Some may have a minimum percentage, which are not difficult to achieve. There are art scholarships for almost every discipline of art- from drawing to vocals etc. Simply create videos for auditions and it can be the best way to judge the talent of these students.

Some are talented in Sports. These students are to be encouraged to pursue their passion and at the same time their academic score should not become a block in their path for their ambition to shine in a sports field too.
